APA style is a format for academic documents like books and journal articles. It is customized in the style guide of APA or American Psychological Association, titled as the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. According to APA, the guidelines were designed for clarity of communication, assisting reading comprehension in the behavioral and social sciences and for word choices that are ideal for reducing the bias in the language.

The Origin of APA Style
